I have seen the exhibition " Verlaine, Cellule 252" yesterday at BAM, Mons.

A man with a not alway easy-going character, complicated love stories but mainly his poetry. It'is like that I describe him.

I have choosen to not post many photos of the exhibition to let to people who want to discover it have some surprises.

We begin with a poem?

When you think Verlaine, you imediately linked him to Rimbaud whith who he has lived a passionate relationship.

We talk less about his wife, maybe because the relationship was more "simple".

And then, they had decided to leave for London.... and to quarrel until the decision of Verlaine to flee that man, thinking it would be more easy like that. And to try to come back to his wife....

We have all already listened the story of that day Verlaine had shot at Rimbaud.

He had been arrested and in prison following a medical exam that he had experienced badly and had felt humiliated.

In the end, it'is more for his homosexuality that he had been arrested. He stayed in prison, here in Mons.

A beautiful exhibition with a lot of letters  and images of the life of Verlaine.
